What's black and granular and waterproof all over?

SHINGLES! That's right...I said shingles! We have reached a major milestone and the shingles are going on as we speak. Ryan started yesterday and here are some photos after only 2 hours of work...he's a man on a mission! Of course it's raining this morning, so it might not be as smooth sailing as yesterday, but he's still on the roof.

We had an appliance shopping spree last night - fridge, washer/dryer, oven...and we picked out our dishwasher. It wasn't on sale so we'll wait for our credit card to catch it's breath before we buy it! It was so much fun and for some reason the sales guy gave us an extra 10% off on every appliance even though they were already clearance prices. We couldn't figure out why, but we didn't argue with him! The only trick now is getting them to store the appliances for us until we need them in a few months. We'll see how that goes!

Rain, Rain go AWAY!

With the wettest June in recent history, poor Ryan worked diligently in the rain every day. He had four pairs of boots that he rotated because it took that long for them to dry out! The rain didn't slow him down though and now the roof is plywooded and taped and, for the most part, protecting the rest of the house from future rain. He thinks that he'll be starting to shingle the roof next week! Very exciting!
